day 9 of 2012 (picture location — somewhere in South America)
hectic day: got to spend time with some friends at the United Nations Exhibition on “Design with the 90%”, which displayed some of the work the United Nations supports in Sustainable Development Design. Being nerdy and all, that was fun and also a huge reminder of the career I want to pursue. Then, I had to meet up with a friend at 4:30 in Columbus Circle/59th st x 7th Ave. the U.N. is 1st Ave & 42th street, so i took the bus up to 57th street and thought i should transfer cross town since it was pretty cold. BUT i took the select bus, and you can’t transfer there … so i ended up walking the 10ish avenues. That turned out to be pretty sweet because I walked on 58th street, which turns into Central Park South at some point and all the fancy hotels, restaurants, and apartment complexes are soooo nice, aka I will never live there :/
Got to catch up with an old friend. Chillin with college students is always nice. For one, they don’t mind talking for hours. two, you connect on a special level. Or that’s what i like to think.
Went back to CCHC to wait for dad to finish the church committee meeting, and had a great talk with him in the car ride home. Sometimes I feel bad about not talking to my parents about my life and what’s going on, and so I’ve been trying to let them in this whole break. With my dad, it’s weird because we can be completely silent with one another and that’s okay. But since I’m leaving soon, I thought to make conversation with him instead of passing out like I usually do.
There’s actually much more to be thankful for and things that happened today, but I’d be oversharing. Today has been bittersweet in some ways. Break is almost ending, I feel the workload coming upon me already (applying for internships). But life isn’t always easy breezy like vacations are. It’s time to be responsible and move forward, towards my purpose.
So that’s what I’m thankful for today. That I KNOW purpose in my life. and that’s day nine !
