day 30 of 2012

housecleaning day! made the house all pretty & nice. had brunch with my roomie, she made some delish pancakes. i have a pic on my camera, but it’s so late now so i’ll post it tomorrow! 

then hung out with a friend. church. subway. other friends on campus. library. 

i don’t want to get backed up on work now, because then it’ll just start the vicious cycle, but i already don’t know how to prioritize. AH. #collegestudentproblems

though, i had a gooood conversation with a friend about life & people & the future & like i said last night, surrender. took a glance at the Malaysia summer abroad program and it was kind of exciting. it’s still not 100% of course, but there is a huge possibility.

today i made decisions. commitments. i’m excited to surrender and lay it all down, to be reckless.

day 26 & 27 of 2012

i’m a cheater. two days at once. 

in the past 24 hours, i have … 

fellowshipped. praised. prayed. listened. met new friends. slaved at the Greenberg Theatre. read wonderful books. learned Chinese. improved in Chinese. planned for next week’s TNW. grocery-shopped at two supermarkets in 1 hour. BOOM. heard former President Bill Clinton speak at my university on empathy, humanity, and a bunch of other awesome topics. ate midnight Korean BBQ buffet for one of my good friend’s birthday. had MANY awesome conversations. walked TOO MUCH. ran. loved. lived.

some days it IS really hard to do this 365 project thing because i’m so tired. i don’t want to be introspective and THINK. it’s just toooooo much for my brain to handle. i want to veg out and do my favorite mindless things, like reading another eBook or tumblr slash Facebook.

but i’m persevering. leggo.

day 25 of 2012

it’s no longer about expectations for what is to come. good-bye to that. i’m looking forward to this moment, right now.

i talk so much about living and thriving on this blog and in my journal. but it’s real. i’m keepin’ it real here. i’m not just immersing myself in busyness so i can talk and flaunt how awesome i am at multi-tasking and being all this responsible hot-shot or something. because if i was doing all this on my own strength, i would just be a puddle of nothingness on my floor right now, crying my eyes out. 

or like, how was i able to get past breaking up with my ex last semester and taking the rest of my life into stride? not my own strength for sure. because in Him I am made new, restored and whole again. there’s no fear or worry or intimidation. of course i had to process everything that happened, but now i live in no regret. 

there’s no more “looking back into the past” because i only have ONE life to live. and that’s this life now. so in this season of life, i’m learning to embrace the challenges thrown at me and to risk it all, not looking back but going forward because i know i’m walking in the path that God has set for me. 

Day 24 of 2o12

oh Tuesdays, you are quite delightful. you start at 1pm, which makes me QUITE happy. LOVING IT. had my 2 classes, then made some of this with a girlfriend. first time making “homemade” pasta sauce. cooking adventures are the best, especially when you have a kitchen to cook in!! then wandered over to small group, where we did some reflections of 2011 + goals for 2012. sort of a time capsule thing.

my focus is to just go and be and not dwell in the past, but thrive in the future. also, i just wanna say #goodstuff to everything. AHHH. this week’s going to be great! bill clinton is coming to speak on Friday, which is exciting. work all saturday & then some good dive deep worship time on Sat evening. 

day 23 of 2012

instead of writing about my day, i’m going to focus on the one event that is really bogging me down. last semester, a professor told me I could intern with her research institute for academic credit. because she said I could do this, I didn’t go out of my way to find another spring internship, etc. When the semester started, I went to her office multiple times during the week to follow-up on her offer. I finally got an email at the end of of last week to schedule an appointment with her yesterday…

… where she told me that the position is not 100% sure. Of course, I tell her that I’m okay with the situation & etc. But in reality, I’m like “WHAT THE HECK. AND NOW MY PLANS ARE ALL MESSED UP”. But are they really? I’m still not sure what to make of the situation and kind of bummed because I was excited to drop one of my 400 level classes so I could intern instead. But now, I might have to end up taking that class because there is NO WAY I can find an internship now, especially if I only have 1 day open. Plus, with all the busy-ness in my life already (it’s only the 2nd week of school), I’m probably taking much more than I can handle.

honestly, i just gotta place this all in God’s hands and I’ll come out okay. 

now to ensure that this doesn’t happen for a summer internship…

Day 22 of 2012

If I thought all the other days of the week were rough, today has blown ALL of them out of the order. so i’ve basically been busy ALL DAY, from church at 10am to three different meetings from 2pm —> 9:30pm. I’m not trying to brag, keeping the pride in check, but I have committed to SO MANY things this semester, because I’m so excited to see what God has for this campus that I want to be super involved. But I’m learning as the days go by that there’s no way for me to do everything, and to be laid back in certain roles & more upfront about others. And that’s perfectly okay.

I feel the beginnings of a cold coming forth, so I want to get all my homework done so I can sleep early tonight. “early” aka before 2am. -___- 

The waffles were from a Communications Cohort meeting I had with my fellowship, and it was so fun & amazing just brainstorming the ideas we have for this semester, all the POSSIBILITIES of what will come forth from all these creative minds. 

it’s going to be a rollercoaster of a semester, i feel it already !

day 21 of 2012

the view is outside my balcony. 

woke up at an ungodly hour on a Saturday morning because I found out my favorite author had released an ebook, so i bought that, read it … then went promptly BACK to sleep until 1pm. got a LOT of cleaning done (had to clean these dirty saucepans after cooking the Thai chicken curry) & organized my clothes onto the hangers (FINALLY). 

then attempted to organize myself & start homework, but failed miserable. got 75% of ONE reading for ONE class done, and left to “Games and Grub” with Chi Alpha. played QUELF with my friends, which is this ridiculous game that basically makes everyone do embarrassing things. but it’s REALLY fun. 

and then came home to the computer to do homework, which has currently been a HUGE fail. instead, i’ve been scheduling blog posts for the Jubikidz, the kid’s program at my church and getting that together. which is really fun … but bad when I’m multitasking … talking to my mom .. ALL AT ONCE! 

a sense of accomplishment is how I feel about today. what will tomorrow bring?
